Sites Project Authority Makes Its First Land Purchase
Maxwell, CA – The Sites Project Authority announced it has reached agreement with AgIS Capital, LLC, on behalf of its client, for the purchase of approximately 816 acres of land west of the community of Maxwell, in Colusa County. This agreement represents the first land acquisition associated with the Site Reservoir Project, a proposed 1.5-million-acre foot reservoir to be built in Glenn and Colusa Counties.
In 2023, the Sites Project Authority Board authorized the initiation of an early land acquisition program, focused on purchasing key parcels associated with long-lead construction elements of the Project. In the case of this acquisition, construction elements include the relocation of Maxwell-Sites Road, the reservoir’s inlet and outlet structures, and several construction haul roads that will facilitate the construction of Sites and Golden Gate Dams.
This acquisition marks a critical milestone for the Sites Reservoir Project as it transitions from its planning phase into Project delivery. This acquisition starts the process of acquiring the lands required to build the Project with future land acquisitions planned once final investor commitment has been secured.
“This acquisition represents our first of hundreds of purchase agreements with local landowners in the coming years to advance this much needed project, decades in the making. We appreciate the cooperation of the AgIS Capital team in making this acquisition a reality,” said Fritz Durst, Chair of the Sites Project Authority Board of Directors.
